Will I receive a qualification if I complete a Skillset?

If you complete a skill set and are deemed competent in all assessments, you will receive accreditation for the three units of competency in the skill set, plus a certificate of completion from RMIT for the skill set.

Are there any costs involved in participating in the pilot?

No, there are no costs involved for participating in the pilot. The Sustainable Building Design Pilot is a free program, there are no course payments/student loans required, however please note participants will need access to a device (Laptop, Computer, Tablet) and internet to participate in the online classes.

Do I have to do all 3 Skillsets or can I just choose 1?

You can choose to do only the skill set/s that aligns with your interests. However, for evaluation purposes, we do need some participants to complete all 3 skill sets. In the case that a skill set is oversubscribed, preference may be given to participants willing to complete all 3 skill sets to ensure we meet these requirements.

What will the workload be like for each skillset?

The workload for each skill set will vary based on the skill set/s selected however all participants will be required to complete assessments and some work outside of classes regardless of their skill set selection. You should expect to spend an extra 5-10 hours on work outside of class each week.

What is the selection process for entry into the skillsets?

Applicants for each skill set will be asked to provide a personal statement describing how the skill set aligns with their interests or activities. This may be used to assist in the selection process in the case that a skill set is oversubscribed.

Unfortunately, temporary visa holders are ineligible to apply.

Where will the classes be held?

Four face-to-face classes in each skill set will be held on Saturdays at RMIT University's City Campus, accessible by PTV. Other classes will be conducted online. Skill set assessments require some site visits that are all easily accessible by public transport as well and are all within 15 minutes of campus. Site visits will be held on the same days as face-to-face classes.
